Overview

We are a group of enthusiastic faculty, scholars, and graduate students working collaboratively to create holistic solutions promoting a more resilient and sustainable urban civil infrastructure network. Our research uses laboratory and field investigations combined with advanced signal processing and applied data analytics techniques to create tools that help infrastructure owners make informed decisions regarding maintenance and repair of their structures assets. We work on and advance the following main topics:

  • Structural health monitoring (SHM) using vibration, stress wave, and video-based techniques
  • Repair and monitoring using advanced multi-functional composites (in collaboration with University of Delaware)
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT) and diagnostic imaging of concrete structures (in collaboration with the Oregon Health & Science University)
  • Service-life modeling and of concrete bridge decks
  • Bayesian-based bridge load rating
  • Modeling and prediction of wave-induced forces on coastal bridges
